Gladheart Sonata (Whippoorwill Newmoon x Rogue’s Midnight Melody)

Gladheart Sonata is our first foal from the Whippoorwill Newmoon x Rogue’s Midnight Melody cross and shows the athletic ability of both her sire and dam.  her sire was the 1994 and 1995 Morgan Grand national reining Champion.  In addition to being an exceptional athlete in his own right.  Newmoon is also a 3/4 brother to Grand Prix Morgan Whippoorwill Ebony (aka “Black Tie”).  Rogue’s Midnight melody is from the breeding program of jean Sauer (Rogue Hill Morgans) and is very closely related to Rogue’s Hill Galaxy who was an USDF All-Breeds winner at Prix St. Georges as well as being the dam of our Grand Prix gelding, Gladheart Linhawk and our stallion, Gladheart Black Harris.

Sonata has had four foals for us:  Gladheart Santiam (by Whippoorwill Aristocrat; 2005), Gladheart Camas (by Kells in Kirby’s Honor; 2008), Gladheart Charbonneau (by Whippoorwill Aristocrat; 2010), and  Gladheart Salish (by Flower of Alliance; 2013).  Although she was an excellent producer, after she had a severe vaccine reaction it was decided to retire her as a broodmare.

In addition to an outstanding pedigree, Sonata shows strength and power at all three gaits, as well as remarkable cattiness–she has a well-deserved reputation for “always knowing where her feet are.”  She is one of the most playful horses we have hever been around, and loves to interact with people.  Sonata has been shown, ridden out on the trail, and participated in numerous dressage clinics.  Her playfulness, athletic ability and sensible nature make her one of the farm favorites and the “go-to” horses for visitors, and a special favorite of our friend Meghan.
