Gladheart Black Harris (DJJJ Ebony Gold x Rogue’s Midnight Melody)

Gladheart Black HarrisGladheart Black Harris (2005) is a black stallion by the AMHA Sport Horse Award recipient DJJJ Ebony Gold out of our foundation mare, Rogue’s Midnight Melody.

Even as a colt, “Maus” demonstrated remarkable strength, balance and overall athleticism. With a natural overstep at the walk and a ground covering, expressive canter, Maus has received praise for his lateral work and his developing passage/piaffe.

Maus’ ability is not by accident. His sire, DJJJ Ebony Gold, has proven himself a versatile and talented Morgan sporthorse: placing 4th in the 1991 100-day North American Warmblood stallion testing, and ranked 19th nationally at USCTA Training Level in 1998. On Maus’ dam side, his half-brother, Gladheart Linhawk, has been successfully competed through Grand Prix in dressage.  It is difficult to find a more solid, proven Morgan sport horse pedigree.

Maus has been shown in open competition for us in dressage by Kimberlee Barker currently through Prix St Georges.  He was the 2019 AMHA Open Competition Champion and the Morgan Dressage Association’s Reserve Champion at Third Level, and was the both the 2021 AMHA Open Competition and Morgan Dressage Association Champion at Fourth Level. Kim and Maus have also earned their AMHA Open Competition Bronze and Silver Medallions and been featured in the AMHA Open Competition Program promotions, the 2012 USDF Dressage Today “Baroque” Pictorial, Flying Changes magazine, as well as being one of the dressage demonstration horse and rider pairs in the 2016, 2019 and 2022 Northwest Equine Expos.

In Working Equitation, Maus was the 2019 and 2020 WE United Morgan High Point. In 2021 he was the Working Equitation Reserve National Champion (all breeds) at Intermediate B for USA Working Equitation and was ranked Nationally in 2023 at the Masters Level–one of the few Morgans (horses!) that have competed at that level.

He doesn’t just say he is a Morgan sport horse—he has proven it.

With a pedigree that is rich in traditional Brunk breeding, Black Harris has multiple lines to the “golden” Flyhawk x Sentola cross through Stetson, Warhawk, The Airacobra, and Top Flight.  This stallion has the athletic ability, conformation and mind necessary for a sport horse, as well as having the breed-type and beauty that identifies him as all-Morgan—and the breeding to pass on these traits.

As has been traditional for Morgan horses, Gladheart Black Harris takes his name from historic roots. The original Moses “Black” Harris was a renowned Mountain Man who guided wagon trains over the Oregon Trail and eventually built a cabin not far from our farm. Maus will be standing to a limited book of mares in 2024 at a breeding fee of $1000, A.I. only, all breeds welcome. Please contact us for more information.  A link to his 2024 breeding contract is provided below.
